¡Hola!

What is Un Poquito de Spanish?

Un Poquito de Spanish is a library of bite-sized articles to help you improve your Spanish by reading in Spanish. I publish new articles every weekday about interesting and quirky things going on in the real world. My goal is to make reading in Spanish fun and help you build a regular reading habit.

Founder of Un Poquito de Spanish

I've been learning Spanish through comprehensible input for several years, and I started this site after seeing how much reading helped me improve my Spanish.

How does reading practice help me learn Spanish?

If you're watching Dreaming Spanish or any type of comprehensible input, you already know how powerful input is, and reading is comprehensible input too.

Stephen Krashen, the researcher behind comprehensible input theory, has spent decades showing that people acquire language by understanding messages, not by memorizing rules. According to Krashen, reading is a very effective way to build vocabulary and a feel for a language naturally.

Video gives you comprehensible input for your ears. And Un Poquito de Spanish gives you comprehensible input for your eyes.

What's so special about Un Poquito de Spanish?

Our articles are short on purpose, so you can read one while you wait for your coffee or even while you're sitting on the toilet. It's Spanish input for those little pockets of time when reading is more practical than watching a video.

Plus, every article is a different topic and that daily surprise is part of the fun. You never know what to expect and there's always something interesting to read. I don't write about news or anything heavy, so no worries there.

Read one short article every weekday and those Spanish words add up quickly. Before you know it, you've read thousands of words.

Where do I start?

It's easy to get started. Head over to our reading library and dive in. Don't worry if you don't know the meaning of every word, just read and get the gist, over time it will get easier. I promise!
